The wait will be over soon for "Grey's Anatomy" fans as the show is set to return in a few days for a 13th season. The premiere episode is set to pick up where season 12's finale left off and things are looking dire for both Alex and Andrew.

Season 12 ended with Alex (Justin Chambers) beating Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) to within an inch of his life after he mistakenly thought the young doctor was taking advantage of Jo (Camilla Luddington). But the truth of the matter was, Andrew brought Jo home after she got drunk at Joe's bar and consequently learned the truth about her marital status.

The premiere episode of season 13 will see Grey Sloan Memorial in an uproar when Andrew is brought in. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) tries to figure out what happened, while Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) juggles secrets that threaten to affect her relationships with Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Alex. Meanwhile, April (Sarah Drew) and Catherine (Debbie Allen) clash over the baby.

A trailer for "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 shows the aftermath of Alex's attack on Andrew, with one scene showing how near death the intern is. Fans shouldn't worry, though, as "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly that Andrew will survive and will even end up with a bigger story arc next season.

"We're going to get to know DeLuca a lot better, who we don't know at all, and who we've just started to scratch the surface of," Rhimes explained. "Now, because this thing has happened to him, he has found himself in a spotlight that he was not interested in ever being in."

Drama is also coming to April and Jackson (Jesse Williams) as Catherine returns. A sneak peek shows April waking to find her former mother-in-law in the room, holding the baby. The two make small talk and Catherine seems genuinely happy to be holding her granddaughter. Catherine eventually prompts April about the baby's name and, even though she wanted to wait for Jackson, she proceeded to tell her that they "wanted something strong, memorable." Catherine assumes they will be naming the baby after her. The clip ends with April telling her that "there could only be one Catherine." The disappointed look on the older woman's face hints that she would soon be raising trouble for the new mother.

The premiere episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will be aired on ABC on Sept. 22 at 8 p.m.
