Alex (Justin Chambers) will force Jo (Camilla Luddington) to tell him why she refused to marry him in the upcoming season of "Grey's Anatomy."

Fans of "Jalex" have been waiting on tenterhooks regarding the fate of their favorite couple. Things between Alex and Jo have been far from okay since she turned down his marriage proposal. Alex was sure that she loved him too and was just taunting him by postponing the moment she would say "yes." When he asked why it was taking her a long time to come up with an answer, Jo broke down and said she could not. She would not tell Alex why though. Drunk and heartbroken, she spilled her secrets to Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti). Alex saw them hugging and immediately thought they were having an affair.

Jo could not tell Alex that she was already married and that her husband frequently beat her. When she got the courage to run away, she even changed her name so he would not be able to trace her. Jo was scared that the violent man would discover where she was and hurt Alex and her friends. Alex remains oblivious to this though. He is sure Jo is hiding something from him, but he does not know what.

In the season 13 premiere, Caterina Scorsone, who plays new bride Amelia, told Entertainment Weekly that something big would happen to "Jalex."

"In the first episode, it's really wedding night, so Owen and Amelia are otherwise occupied. And there's a big piece of drama going on having to do with another storyline [with Alex and Jo] that I think is going to play for a while in the season. It's very explosive, very exciting and interesting on social levels and personal character levels," the actress shared.

Meanwhile, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) will finally know that her sister Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is hooking up with her ultimate crush, Nathan (Martin Henderson). In a photo Henderson posted on his Instagram account, he could be seen standing in Meredith's living room. Since she and Maggie share an apartment together, having Nathan there will be extremely awkward for the sisters. It looks like the new couple has no intention of hiding their affair any longer.

"Grey's Anatomy" is expected to return on Sept. 22, Thursday, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
