It looks like Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) is finally ready to move on after the tragic death of Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). It looks like things are getting serious between her and Dr. Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson) moving forward to season 13 of "Grey's Anatomy."

Ever since cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Nathan Riggs was introduced in season 12 episode 6, viewers have felt that he could be Meredith's love interest. In episode 13, surgical oncologist Dr. William Thorpe (Scott Elrod) was introduced, and while he and Meredith dated and got intimate, the relationship was short-lived. After sharing an intimate night, she realized she is not yet over Derek.

It was not until the final episodes of season 12 when Meredith and Nathan got intimate. Dr. Owen Hunt's (Kevin McKidd) feud with Nathan has led Meredith to dislike him when he first joined Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. While the two dismiss what happened between them as just casual, the finale suggests that both are actually falling for each other for real.
It is not going to be easy, though, judging from Meredith's reaction, when she found out that her sister from another mother, Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), has also taken a liking on the same man.

Henderson shares his thoughts about the possibilities of his character's future with Meredith in an interview with TV Line. He said that the similar experience with previous lovers, "may be fertile ground for them to actually have a relationship with some meaning."

However, he also thinks, "Nathan is irreverent and kind of calls Meredith on her s--, and that might be really good for her, because he doesn't take things all that seriously."

In another interview, McCreary said she thinks her character is going to be crushed when she finds out about Meredith and Nathan. She said, "She expresses that a lot in the finale, so when she finds out ultimately that it may not be a chance for her to be in love, I think she's going to be hearbroken."
