The clandestine hookups between Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Nathan (Martin Henderson) will not be ending soon and will in fact flourish in season 13 of "Grey's Anatomy."

During the latter part of the last installment, Meredith surprised the fans by having an affair with Owen's (Kevin McKidd) number one enemy, Nathan. The hookup happened so fast that viewers are still processing exactly what made her go for the New Zealander. One moment, they were talking, the next thing, they were making out. If that does not complicate things for Meredith, considering her friendship with Owen, it was also revealed that her sister Maggie (Kelly McCreary) has a big crush on Nathan.

Pompeo recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about the brewing love triangle. She said that she was looking forward to the complication, although she was hoping that the storyline would be written in a new and interesting light. According to her, Meredith has chosen Nathan because he is safe and she is confident she will not fall in love with him. Will she eventually eat her words and find herself unexpectedly drawn to him?

"I am excited to play it. He's safe for Meredith because nobody likes him and she knew she couldn't be in a relationship with him. That triangle will be fun. I just hope it's written differently. I would assume that it's going to be written differently. I just don't want to play the same thing that I played in the last love triangle. 10 years have passed, so hopefully Meredith responds to this differently than she did 10 years ago," the actress said.

Meanwhile, Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) sister Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) will officially start her married life with Owen in the new season. Scorsone told TV Line it would not be a smooth-sailing union, considering that her character was actually considering running away during the wedding ceremony. She also said that Amelia would have a lot to say to Meredith once she learns of her secret affair with her husband's nemesis.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will air this fall on ABC.
