'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers, plot: Owen discovers Meredith and Rigg's relationship, will not be pleased

(Facebook/GreysAnatomy)"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will premiere on Sept. 22, Thursday, on ABC.

The upcoming season of "Grey's Anatomy" will see Owen discovering Riggs and Meredith's hookup. However, Owen will not take the news well, especially considering his relationships with both characters.

Season 12 saw Meredith and Riggs starting a sexual relationship. And although Owen and Riggs have started repairing their rocky relationship, things are about to be shaken up when the former realizes what's going on.

In one of Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room articles, Kevin McKidd, who plays Owen, discussed the impending revelation. "That's going to come out, I'm sure, next season," he said.

"I don't think Owen is going to be happy about that. He's almost becoming an unofficial brother to Meredith. Derek was his friend. He'll be a bit territorial, to be honest. Also, the last time Riggs got close to somebody Owen cares about, she died. He might be being a little irrational when he finds out."

His reaction would be understandable considering their past. But season 12 saw Owen marrying Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), so fans can expect a happier storyline to accompany the one between him and Riggs.

While speaking to Melty, McKidd expressed his desire for his character to be happy now that he's married to Amelia. He described Owen's relationship with Cristina, saying they went through a lot. "So I think he deserves to be happy," he shared. Cristina is Owen's ex, played by Sandra Oh, who left in season 10.

"Grey's Anatomy" has had a lot of characters come and go over the past 12 seasons and one of them — albeit briefly — is Wilmer Valderrama's Kyle, a patient who appeared in five episodes. And although Valderrama's character didn't make it in the end, the 36-year-old actor gushed that he would love to work with "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes and perhaps even have his own show.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will premiere on Sept. 22, Thursday, on ABC.
