'GTA 5' DLC rumors: possible football-themed DLC reveal at E3?

"Grand Theft Auto V," or "GTA V," was initially released on Sept. 17, 2013, and has already sold 65 million copies. The long time since the release has fans wondering why developers Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive haven't released a DLC for the single-player campaign.

As the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) draws near, there are speculations that Rockstar may finally announce the highly anticipated DLC for "GTA V," or at least some news about it; however, there are also those who believe that the studio may opt to reveal "Red Dead Redemption 2" due to the recently leaked map and reports of a confirmed appearance of the game during the event.

Amid all the unconfirmed rumors, one thing is clear — fans remain anxious and despite the constant release of patches and updates almost every month. As fans await, the Internet is abuzz on what the potential DLC will include. One speculation is a football-centric DLC, which has been circulating for some time now. There are also rumors of new playable characters in the game, or a possible football mini-game. Another rumor suggests of a casino setting along with horseback riding functionality. Rockstar Games, however, hasn't released any official announcement or news on a possible DLC for "GTA V," thus fans must take this information with a grain of salt.

To shed some light, luckily, GameSpot had a chance to ask Take-Two Interactive some questions regarding a new game in the horizon and they replied vaguely by saying that Rockstar is working on a game that might be revealed soon.

"Rockstar Games is of course hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon."

While both gamers and fans are still left in the dark, the upcoming E3 could hopefully provide more hints or concrete details on what's ahead for "GTA V." Until then, everything remains open for speculations and other interpretations.

More "GTA 5" news updates and "GTA 5: Online" patch notes coming soon.
