New York Comic Con 2014 held lots of surprises for Marvel fans, including a special announcement by Joseph Loeb, head of television for Marvel. Loeb announced during the Marvel panel that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' will be turned into an animated tv series and will be aired on Disney XD in 2015.

It would only be fitting to have an extra dose of the 'Guardians' after the massive success of James Gunn's cinematic adaptation.

It is highly uncertain however that Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel or Dave Bautista will voice their respective characters in the animated series, but that won't be a problem for the frenzied Marvel fans excited for the tv series.

Disney's Marc Buhaj expressed the network's delight to house the series in a press release, saying that the movie became a worldwide phenomenon.

"The movie and franchise quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. We're looking forward to working with the great team at Marvel Television to deliver an engaging animated series that fans can enjoy each week," said Buhaj in the press release, as reported by E! News.

It is also uncertain if the series will follow the exact setting of the movie's universe, as well as whether the characters will look like their movie counterparts.

Disney is known to have a mass target audience in the younger demographic, and this could play a major role when it comes to story and plot lines.
