'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' news: James Gunn and Chris Pratt emotional over Kurt Russell

(Facebook / Guardians of the Galaxy)"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will continue the journey of the five unlikely heroes.

Filming for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is still ongoing, but scenes of actor Kurt Russell are already done. On his last shooting day, director James Gunn and lead star Chris Pratt took to social media to express how it felt working with the superstar.

The inclusion of Russell in the sequel movie was met with happy speculations. His role in the story has not been confirmed, but he is widely believed to be the father of the lead character, Peter Quill, who is played by Pratt. Whatever his role is, his time on the set has definitely made an impact to those he worked with.

On May 11, Gunn posted on Facebook, "That's a wrap on Kurt Russell for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.' I'll admit I'm welling up a bit. It's not often your heroes are as awesome in person as you believed they were as a kid. A wonderful guy and incredible actor in every way. And he was nice to my Mom, Dad, and dog. I couldn't ask for anything more."

He posted a similar but shorter farewell on Twitter. He wrote, "And that's a wrap on Kurt Russell on #GOTGVol2. A true talent and pleasure in ever way. I will admit to a small tear in my eye."

Both posts have earned many likes and reactions, but one that stood out was Pratt's reply. Pratt said, "You're not the only one cryin'. Kurt Russell is the f----- best." Surprised but not necessarily sorry for the use of explicit words, Pratt followed his response with another post saying, "I'm sorry for the language. But when I'm talking about how f-----great Kurt Russell is I have to swear."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled for release on Apr. 25, 2017.
