'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' news: Kurt Russell talks about working on the sequel

(Marvel)The unlikely defenders will be back next year in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which will introduce Peter Quill's father who was described as an ancient alien in the previous movie.

The excitement for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is on and one of the characters viewers are excited to meet is Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) father, who is portrayed by actor Kurt Russell.

In interviews, the actor gets to talk about his role and how it feels working on the movie.
Russell's character is named Ego "the Living Planet" and, if one is wondering how a planet could help produce a child, Ego is a planet that could take the form of a human. Talking to GQ, the actor said, "I've never played anything like that. I mean, that's a great thing to be able to say at my age."

He also revealed that he just recently found out that Disney owned Marvel Studios. Some of his early successes in the business were with Disney, which is not as popular as it is now during those years. He said, "It's just in the last 25, 30 years that the world has come to Walt Disney." He continued, "When I worked at Walt Disney Studio, you were not hip, you were not cool. There was no cool thing to Walt Disney."

In an interview with Coming Soon, the actor expressed confidence in the sequel saying, "Yeah it's going to be good." He also praised the director and his fellow actors saying, "James Gunn is on top of it. Chris Pratt's cool. The whole cast and crew, they're just all really nice."

He also expressed excitement playing his character, saying, "I was really excited when I read this character as an opportunity to lay someone that I think is… you know… Ego the Living Planet. I mean, it might be one of the best names of a character that I ever got a shot at."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2017.
