'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' release date, news: Sneak peek video released

(Facebook/guardiansofthegalaxy)"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will premiere on May 5, 2017.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is still over half a year away, but fans are already talking about it. Marvel Entertainment recently released a sneak peek into the sequel and it's safe to say that a lot of action and comedy are coming.

The clip starts out with a shot of a hallway of some sort and then shifts to where the heroes keep their spacesuits. "Spacesuits for emergency," the sign reads. "Or for fun," a handwritten continuation adds, as the music in the background slowly builds up. It's a familiar tune — one that was extensively used in the first film's promotion. It's Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling."

Shots of the main characters are then featured as the music gets louder. Gamora (Zoe Saldana), is then seen in a black suit as she draws a sword-like weapon. She holds onto it like a warrior and runs as fast as she can toward an unseen target. It's clear that she's determined to get what she wants. Meanwhile, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Yondu (Michael Rooker) walk calmly down a bridge as people aboard the spaceship slowly fall from above.

A hooden being is then revealed — and it's Nebula (Karen Gillan). Peter (Chris Pratt) dons a head gear and flies away. In the next scene, Peter is flying a spaceship, looking cool as usual. Drax (Dave Bautista), Gamora, and Peter then walk in slow motion as the music gets to its iconic chorus.

"There are two types of beings in the universe," Drax's voice-over says. "Those who dance," he says, as a shot of Peter is shown. "And those who do not," the voice continues, and a shot of Gamora follows.

"I get it. Yes. I'm a dancer; Gamora is not," Peter tells Drax. "You just need to find a woman who is pathetic — like you," Drax hilariously advises. Peter thanks him and Drax offers a hug. And in true "Guardians of the Galaxy" comedic fashion, Drax gives Peter a hug after the latter declines. The final scene sees Rocket through a hole he just shot, with a mini Groot (Vin Diesel) on his shoulder.

And even though the sneak peek is short, it has managed to spark a frenzy among fans. As previously reported, the film's plot will see Peter reuniting with his father, Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), and it remains to be seen how he will react to the revelation.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will premiere on May 5, 2017.
