'Halo 5: Guardians' PC release date happening?

(Xbox)A PC version of the currently Xbox One exclusive game, "Halo 5: Guardians" is set to be released by Microsoft this year.

The "Halo" game franchise by Microsoft is one of the few remaining games that have remained exclusive for Xbox One consoles. With the software giant's recent announcement — that the creative tool dubbed "Forge – Halo 5: Guardians Edition" will be made available on Microsoft PC — questions as to whether the game itself would also soon be made available on PC came into light.

"When Forge was redesigned from the ground up for 'Halo 5: Guardians' on Xbox One, it opened the door to even more inventive community-created content, pushing the boundaries even further to give players more power and control than before, and removing as many constraints as possible to allow for the creation of incredibly high-quality maps," according to an official statement by 343 Industries, the development house of "Halo."

While the announcement got PC gamers hoping, Ars Technica reports that representatives from Microsoft clarified that the free PC version of "Halo 5: Guardians" will not allow single-player campaign and multiplayer matchmaking. It is a creative tool that can allow players to "forge" maps, thus the tool name. Players can then invite friends to join them on that map to play, according to whatever customized rules they set.

Reports say it remains unclear whether the PC version and the original Xbox One version of "Forge" will have interconnected content updates, especially when the Xbox One version starts upgrading later in the year.

Meanwhile, Xbox One "Halo 5" players can continue playing the game using the console. For those that have yet to purchase the game, Amazon has recently created a bundle that can let buyers save up to $100. Included in the bundle are a 1TB hard drive custom Halo designed console; Spartan-themed Steel Book containing a full game digital download of "Halo 5: Guardians;" wireless controller; chat headset; warzone REQ Pack which includes 14 Premium Requisition packs; FOTUS-class armor; 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold; HDMI Cord; and AC power cable.
