'Homeland' season 5 episode 2 spoilers: Promo clip shows danger ahead for Carrie and During; Quinn and Carrie may come face to face

"Homeland" fans were glad that when the show returned with season 5, it felt fresh and was clearly headed in a different direction. While the first episode set the groundwork for the season nicely, fans are hoping that the second episode will be more action-packed and exciting, especially since Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and her new boss Otto During (Sebastian Koch) are headed to a hostile territory in the name of philanthropy. There are also hints that Carrie would soon come face to face with Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend).

Season 5 of "Homeland" opened with the episode "Separation Anxiety." It's been two years since the events of season 4 and Carrie appears to be happily living and working in Berlin as a security consultant. Saul (Mandy Patinkin) is now the CIA's European section chief while Quinn works for him as a hitman. But it appears Carrie can't outrun her past as she is kidnapped while arranging for safe passage for her boss to a refugee camp along the Lebanon-Syria border that's controlled by the Hezbollah.

The promo video for episode 2 shows that Carrie and During's trip isn't as well-received as they hoped it would be. The ex-CIA agent is seen briefing her boss about the unpredictable situation, telling him they would have to limit their visit to the refugee camp to one hour. However, chaos erupts when someone appears to pull out a gun just as During announces he's giving $10 million to make the camp safe.

Other scenes in the short clip show Berlin's new station chief, Allison (Miranda Otto), telling Saul about a major penetration they suffered, alluding to the two German hackers who accidentally came upon evidence that Germany is letting the U.S. track its citizens. Saul asks whether she thinks Carrie is involved and she points out that both Carrie and the hackers work for one person.

Fans are also given short glimpses of Quinn that suggests he's preparing for an assignment before the clip ends with Carrie pointing a gun at someone and demanding, "What the hell are you doing here?"

The last scene has had "Homeland" fans thinking that Quinn and Carrie might finally see each other after two years.

Carrie and Quinn's reported reunion isn't the only thing that fans should look forward to. The political thriller's showrunners promised that season 5 will be filled with exciting but relevant storylines and it appears they are keeping their word.

Episode 2 of "Homeland" season 5, "The Tradition of Hospitality," will air on Oct. 11 on Showtime.
