"Homeland" sure is going to look a bit different in season five, with new cast members and a new plot looming in the horizon. But even with the changes, the Showtime psychological-political drama will have the same exciting threats, especially for Carrie Mathison.

In the new season of "Homeland," Carrie (Claire Danes) attempts to have a new life as she leaves her work as a Central Intelligence Agency officer to become a full-time mom. Season five brings viewers two years into the timeline after the season four finale. But if Claire thinks leaving the CIA means finally having peace, then she could not be any more wrong.

In the official pilot episode synopsis, it is revealed that if anything, the former Central Intelligence Agency officer faces newer and more dangerous threats.

International Business Times quotes, "The game has changed for Carrie Mathison. Out of the CIA and living in Berlin, Carrie is trying to start a new life but realizes now she's the one with a target on her back. As the danger intensifies, and without Saul and Quinn to rely on, one thing becomes clear – she's never been at greater risk or with more to lose."

Episode one of season five is titled, "Separation Anxiety." It hints at how Carrie will most likely have a hard time adjusting to a "normal" life.

Design & Trend also notes that early into the new season, everyone will get their answers to the pressing season four finale questions. Among these are questions about Quinn's fate after his mission in Syria and what his relationship with Carrie will be if he turns out alive. Also to be answered is the possible impact of Saul and Dar Adal's deals with some wary allies.

New cast coming in will also surely make for more plot twists and turns. Though there are some lids on who is joining the show in the new season, there are at least six confirmed actors on board. Some of the names that have escaped the otherwise tight wraps are Mark Ivanir, Micah Hauptman, and Miranda Otto, the latter confirmed to play Alison Carr, Saul Berenson's (Mandy Patinkin) help in running the Berlin CIA operations.

Watch all the exciting new changes in "Homeland" as it returns for season five on Showtime this Oct. 4.
