'Homeland' season 6 spoilers: Carrie works hard to have normalcy

(Facebook/HomelandonShowtime)Carrie starts anew in "Homeland" season 6.

Carrie Mathison (Clare Danes) is eager to have some normalcy in her life in her return to the United States in the upcoming season of "Homeland."

The new installment will see the former agent back in her home turf and ready to start anew. After working for a private security company based in Berlin, she will live in New York and be close to her daughter for a change.

Director Lesli Linka Glatter told Huffington Post that one of Carrie's missions is to find inner peace. She has enjoyed a normal life for several months in Germany until she got embroiled in the CIA's messy affair. Glatter said Carrie would once again attempt to live a life without fear. Her new job in a foundation is a good start, but will it be enough?

For the past five seasons, Carrie has been right in the middle of the fierce battle of the US against the insurgents. She has witnessed a lot of death and even killed her share of bad guys. The experience did not help her condition. Her bipolar disorder may have been absent in the previous installment, but it is still there. As she tries to process what her life has become, Carrie's illness is expected to come back in full force.

Danes told Entertainment Weekly that her character would experience more setbacks in season 6.

"She's pretty ravaged, you know, by the end. She's been through yet another ring of hell, so I think she always, in the beginning of the season, seems in the mood to stabilize, and then her calling disrupts that, so I think it'll be more of that," the actress said.

Aside from her personal problems, Carrie will also have to worry about Peter Quinn's (Rupert Friend) condition. Speculations suggest that he will survive his ordeal, but the road to recovery will not be easy. Quinn may even decide to distance himself from Carrie, whom he professed to love before he went into comma. He will not want to be a burden to her, especially when it is revealed how the sarin gas has affected his health.

"Homeland" season 6 airs in January on Showtime.
