'Homeland' season 6 spoilers: Dar Adal returns to support Quinn

(Facebook/HomelandOnShowtime)Dar Adal returns in "Homeland" season 6.

With Quinn's (Rupert Friend) fate still undetermined in "Homeland" season 6, his friends and colleagues are in tenterhooks, waiting for news regarding his health condition. One of them is Dar Adal (F Murray Abraham), the black ops director of CIA, whom Quinn worked closely with before his unfortunate experience in the hands of the jihadists.

According to series co-creator Alex Gansa, the veteran actor will be returning to portray his iconic character once again. In season 5, it was Dar Adal who gave Quinn the go signal to pursue a trail that ultimately led to his meeting with the jihadists bent on bombing Berlin. The director must be feeling guilty for what happened to his trusted agent. How will he react when he learns that the Quinn that he knows will never be the same again?

"If you remember that scene in the Dec. 6 episode, after the video comes out of Quinn in the gas chamber, you witness the emotion on Dar's face. He has been such a stolid, unemotional character, and his relationship with Quinn mirrors Saul's relationship with Carrie. You can see in that moment how affected he is by what happened to Quinn, and you will see more of that as this season moves forward," the executive producer told The New York Times.

Showtime programming president Gary Levine hinted during the Television Critics Association's (TCA) press tour in Pasadena, California in January that Quinn would have a tough time getting back in shape after his exposure to sarin gas. The poison has done its work in the agent's body and the doctors were not positive with their prognosis. Quinn was suffering from a massive brain hemorrhage. During the midseason finale, it even looked like he flatlined. Levine told the press in the panel interview during the TCA that in the event that Quinn survives, he would not be the same bold, audacious Quinn.

"Homeland" season 6 is expected to return this fall on Showtime.
