'House of Cards' season 4 news: more 'wickedness' in store next season; adopted baby to stir things up

(Netflix)

"House of Cards'" fourth season is still quite a long way off, which is probably why fans have been occupying themselves by speculating on what power couple, Frank and Claire Underwood, would do next season.

As fans were saying goodbye to the couple at the end of the third season, Claire (Robin Wright) was also saying adios to her husband, walking out on him and their marriage. While it seemed that Claire has had enough of her husband, fans have learned not to take anything for granted in this show. As a matter of fact, there have been speculations that the couple might adopt a baby just to keep up appearances. Others are saying that Claire will change her mind about the type of politics that her husband engages in.

Rumors have also been rampant about Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) meeting his end in season four. Kelly even addressed the rumors in several interviews and admitted that he hopes his character doesn't die.

"This is the greatest job I've ever had, Doug Stamper is the greatest gift I have ever been given as an actor," Kelly shared. "I love playing him, I love going to work every day, here we are in season 4 and I love going to work just as much as I did first day of season 1 and that says a lot."

There will be new characters in season four and Neve Campbell is rumored to be giving Frank (Kevin Spacey) a run for his money when "House of Cards" returns. It was also reported that a younger but equally powerful couple is set to arrive in season four; Campbell might just be one half of that tandem.

Despite the lack of concrete information about the show, the hints that "House of Cards" creator Michael Dobbs dropped is more than enough to drum up interest. According to Dobbs, "the forthcoming season will feature more wickedness" and that more "Machiavellian scheming" is on the way.

"House of Cards" season four will return in 2016.
