In the finale of "House of Cards" Season 3, Claire (Robin Wright) and Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) have finally broken up. In what was arguably a more relationship-based season (to the disappointment of some who were expecting the usual politically-driven season), viewers witnessed the breakdown of the power couple's marriage.

Season 4 will start off with Claire and Frank getting a divorce, before Claire decides to run for president opposite Frank who will run for re-election. It will definitely be more political as the airing will coincide with the actual U.S. presidential elections. Series creator Beau Willimon teased to  Huffington Post that Claire and Frank will definitely go head to head in pursuit of the presidency.

So how will Frank cope now that Claire is gone?

"That's one of the big questions going into season four," Willimon told The Hollywood Reporter. "A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back."

Willimon also said that with Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) on his side, Frank will still have an ally.

As for Claire, her potential plot line for Season 4 has been described as "art imitating life" as it reminds every one of the former First Lady, Hillary Clinton, who is hoping to be the Democratic candidate for the 2016 Presidential elections.

A "Claire Underwood for President" story arc would surely drum up interest in the series, as it would extremely be exciting to see Claire pursue her dreams, which did not materialize when she became just the First Lady, despite knowing that it would be Frank's downfall.

Viewers are excited to see whether Frank sincerely plans to win back Claire's heart or if it would be just his way to make sure that Claire is not on the opposing end, especially since Claire knows more than enough information to really take him down.

Season 4 of "House of Cards" will premiere in the spring of 2016.
