Fans of the epic Vikings and dragons saga will be happy to know that there's one more chapter of "How to Train Your Dragon" to tell. But they shouldn't expect it to be a happy one.

This was heavily hinted at by director Dean DeBlois. The 45-year-old Canadian film director previously revealed to Collider that "How to Train Your Dragon 3" will see the end of this coming-of-age movie, with both Hiccup and his dragon, Toothless, now the heads of their respective tribes. The two will reportedly be challenged to do what is right for their kind, with Hiccup said to be able to finally stand on his own, while Toothless allegedly flounders with his newfound freedom.

"We're gonna take the story to where the books begin, which is Hiccup as an adult reflecting back on a time where there were dragons, suggesting that the dragons will in some way go away," explained DeBlois.

While that statement is enough to dampen any fan's day, it was something that the director had reportedly pushed for, as it would mean the movie would correlate to how Cressida Cowell's book ended.

The mystery that fans now have to uncover is why the dragons are gone, how it happened, and whether they could still come back to Berk and the world. And that is what the last of the trilogy aims to reveal.

Fans would also be seeing more of Drago (Djimon Hounsou) in the franchise's next installment. The character will reportedly be more complex than what was hinted at in "How to Train Your Dragon 2."

The "How to Train your Dragon" trilogy revolves around Hiccup Haddock III, the heir of the leader of the island of Berk. The young Viking's life changed drastically when he befriended and trained a rare dragon — Night Fury.

"How to Train Your Dragon 3" is slated to hit movie theaters on June 29, 2018.
