One of the better animated movies to come out in recent history is "How to Train Your Dragon." The movie's third installation is also highly-anticipated and is expected to be a big box office draw like its predecessors, with the first movie earning about $495 million and the sequel generating around $618.90 million in 2014. But what viewers might not be expecting is the movie's storyline, which is rumored to be a very emotional one as Hiccup and Toothless are preparing to part ways.

Fans of the series have to gear up for what is reported to be a heart rending end to the trilogy as "How to Train Your Dragon 3" is said to remain true to the story that the books author, Cressida Cowell, had laid out.

Readers of Cowell's books know that the story began with Hiccup waxing sentimental over the time when dragons were still around and according to the movie's director, Dean DeBlois, this reminiscing will be the main plot point that the story will revolve around.

There have been rumors that when the third movie comes around, Hiccup and Toothless will both be leaders of their respective tribes. Unfortunately for the two, humans and dragons will allegedly be at war, maybe due to Drago's return. The villainous dragon will reportedly be out for revenge in the upcoming sequel. This, in turn, might lead to what DeBlois has described as one of the most heartbreaking but unforgettable breakups ever to grace the silver screen.

The director has also hinted that the Dreamworks animated flick might also delve into dragon mythology. Where the first two movies just skimmed the surface, the final chapter will reportedly tackle "what happened to the dragons, where they went and whether they will come back." The film will allegedly put more emphasis on the world of the dragons and their intelligence.

However, fans should not expect to see "How to Train Your Dragon 3" anytime soon. The movie was initially rumored to come out in 2016 but DeBlois said that time frame was a bit too ambitious. The director expounded that it usually takes three years of outlining, writing, building models, animating and testing before a movie like this is finished.

So fans should try to be more patient as "How to Train Your Dragon 3" is expected to be released on June 29, 2018.
