Ian Somerhalder has already confirmed that season 8 will be his last for the popular CW series, "The Vampire Diaries." Along with his announcement came reports saying that the reason for this is because his wife, Nikki Reed, is jealous of his possible on-screen reunion with ex-girlfriend and co-star Nina Dobrev.

A report on KpopStarz says that Reed seems to have a habit of banning her husband from any interaction with Dobrev. It can be remembered that Somerhalder shied away from the 2015 Teen Choice Awards where she and Dobrev won the Best Kiss award. Dobrev accepted the award alone.

With this recent report, there are speculations that Reed might have tried to keep Dobrev away from "The Vampire Diaries." If this is indeed true, then those who are hoping to see Dobrev and Somerhalder one last time might be disappointed.

Meanwhile, Somerhalder's announcement regarding his exit from the show has fueled rumors and speculations that this will also be the show's last season. To end the speculations, Somerhalder took to Twitter and said, ""Last weekend I talked to an audience at a Q&A about the end of #TVD and how excited I was to make what I believe – my last year – be as great as possible. Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end."

The latest news show the husband and wife attending the gala held for the Humane Society of the United States in support of the animal charity group. The charity has an ongoing campaign which helps reduce the number of animals which are raised and are then slaughtered for food. The couple has always been outspoken about their passion for animals.

The gala was held at Paramount Studios on Saturday, May 7.
