To say that the "Indiana Jones" franchise is a massive worldwide success would definitely be an understatement. The movie's presence can still be felt almost 35 years after the release of the first sequel in 1981. Not surprisingly then, rumors of a fifth sequel of the series persists, though all the speculations have now finally been put to rest with the confirmation that "Indiana Jones" will have yet another sequel.

An interview with cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, by Variety magazine revealed that the fifth installment of the successful series is in the works. The revelation appears to have been unintentional as the article has intended to feature on the veteran's career. As an afterthought, Kaminski has said:

"(Kaminsky's) next project is the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie."

While the magazine has retracted the statement, fans have already latched on to the idea of being treated to a new "Indiana Jones" movie very soon. Other rumors claim that Harrison Ford will not be reprising his iconic role, making the series' long-time followers speculate wildly about who the next Indy could be.

Several names have surfaced as Ford's replacement, including A-listers like Bradley Cooper and Robert Pattinson. But Chris Pratt is considered to be the frontrunner for being the next "Indiana Jones".

Allison Janney, Pratt's wife, Anna Farris' Mom co-star, has reportedly confirmed Pratt's involvement in the project, claiming that he has been given a paycheck of $20 million for the role.

However, the "Jurassic World" star was quick to debunk the rumors and told Comic Book Resource:

"It's the rumor mill, I've heard about it for the first time the same way everyone else did. I was one of the last people to know, in fact, because I was out of service for four days. My reps got a hold of me and were like, 'Jesus, Chris pick up your phone.' It's a very exciting and very thrilling prospect, but, truly, up to this point nobody has contacted me or called me up and made me the offer. I would probably approach this like I did with Jurassic, which is, it's really exciting, but I care so much about the original source material, I'd have to know it was perfect."

Despite the purported confirmation, there is no word yet about the release date of "Indiana Jones 5".
