'Injustice 2' release date rumors: Game to launch in March 2017

(Facebook/Injustice)"Injustice 2" will have more playable characters as compared to the current "Injustice: Gods Among Us."

After it was finally confirmed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last month that a sequel to the highly successful "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is underway, fans of the game that features a wide array of DC superheroes and villains fighting each other need not wait that long as it is rumored that "Injustice 2" will be released in March 2017.

The rumor of "Injustice 2" getting released in the said month next year stemmed from a report of a French gaming website, which mentioned March 2017 as the month when the upcoming game will hit the store shelves. While the said report is a reason for the fans of the game to jubilate, without any confirmation from NetherRealm Studios, it remains a speculation at this point in time and must be taken with a grain of salt.

While the release date of "Injustice 2" is a mere speculation for the time being, the same word cannot be used to describe the news about the inclusion of Supergirl, Grodd, and Atrocitus as the sequel's newest playable characters. "Injustice: Gods Among Us" may have gathered the DC superheroes and villains in the game, but only a handful are playable. By making the three aforementioned characters playable, gamers now have more choices on who they want to play in the upcoming "Injustice 2."

Apart from Supergirl, Grodd, and Atrocitus becoming playable characters in the sequel, there is also a high possibility for other DC superheroes to be such. This speculation came after Ed Boon, creative director at NetherRealm Studios, called on his Twitter followers to partake in a poll, asking who among the three additional characters he mentioned they want to be playable in "Injustice 2."

The fans favored Blue Beetle, who got 39 percent, over Swamp Thing and Captain Cold, who got 35 and 26 percent of the total votes, respectively.

In the event that "Injustice 2," indeed, arrives in March 2017, gamers can sink their fingers on the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
