'Iron Man 4' rumors and news: Will Robert Downey Jr bow out as 13-year-old Ty Simpkins takes his place?

While it is too early to talk about "Iron Man 4", rumors doing the rounds over several websites are indicating that Robert Downey Jr may not be a part of the fourth movie. JBG News cites that while Downey will be reprising his role as Iron Man in "The Avengers" sequels and 2016's "Captain America: Civil War", he will most likely be out of the Iron Man movie franchise.

Why the change of heart for the 49-year-old actor? CrossMap reports that Downey is negotiating his compensation for the fourth movie. Instead of a fixed income, as he received in the previous movies of "Iron Man", the dashing star wants a percentage of the income the movie makes. This can be seen as a smart move for an actor, since the "Iron Man" series has generated a large sum of money for the studio and for the franchise. While talks are on with Marvel Studios, it is not clear if they will concede with his request. However, there are no official statements or reports from either Robert Downey Jr or producers at Marvel Studios. Additionally, filming for the fourth movie won't begin anytime soon.

Another speculation brewing on the Internet is that 13-year-old Ty Simpkins may be the next Iron Man for the fourth movie. Master Herald reports that filming for the studio's fourth "Iron Man" franchise won't begin till 2017 or 2018, meaning Ty will be about 16 or 17 years old. "Iron Man" fans might recall that he appeared in the third film, playing the role of Harley Skeener.

It is unlikely that Skeener can replicate the charisma and panache with which Robert Downey Jr played the playboy-billionaire Tony Stark. Some speculations suggest that "The Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" and "Captain America: Civil War" will be the last fans see Downey as Stark and will be a sort of farewell for the actor.
