'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers, news: Rafael to have 'a great storyline'

(Facebook/cwjanethevirgin)'Jane the Virgin' season 3 will see a lot of changes in Rafael's life following his decision to let Jane go and be happy with Michael

While most viewers and the entire cast of "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 are focused heavily on poor Michael, who is unfortunately not enjoying his honeymoon but is in a coma, Rafael may be in for new adventures as the new installment pushes through.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman revealed that Rafael (Justin Baldoni) has some good things to experience this season. "He has a great storyline that I'm really excited about... in the first episode, he's obviously most concerned with is Michael OK and how he can help. Beyond that, there is this new relationship he has to deal with," she said.

Of course, Rafael is also very much concerned with Michael's (Brett Dier) fate. After all, the two of them have had man-to-man moments and it was Michael's deep love for Jane (Gina Rodriguez) that led Rafael to let the former go and allow her to be happy in the finale of Season 2.

However, Rafael will have to move on from everything that's transpired in his life. It is unclear who will be involved in this "new relationship" but fans can assume that Rafael may finally be ready to move on from his broken heart.

Urman further explained to THR, "I'm excited to get back into it and see how that affects their relationship - the negotiating, the co-parenting," referring to Rafael's decision to finally make his own choices about raising his son, Mateo.

For the past seasons, Rafael has agreed to the terms and conditions that Jane set up for parenting Mateo but this time, the father will definitely move out of his comfort zone, considering that Jane is now married to another man and the boundaries have to be set right. How will Jane react to the changes that Rafael will apply in terms of co-parenting Mateo?

The bigger question is, how will Rafael's new "romantic moves" come into play this season? Will he be able to juggle time in between raising a son and finding new love?

Find out in "Jane the Virgin" Season 3, which airs every Monday, 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
