'Jessica Jones' season 2 release date, spoilers: Luke Cage returns?

(Facebook/MarvelsJessicaJones)"Jessica Jones" season 2 is expected to be released in 2017.

Fans are excitedly waiting for the second season of "Jessica Jones." It can be recalled that Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, appeared in the first season of the Netflix series, but fans are now wondering if he will also be present in the second season.

And if it were up to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, Cage will definitely come back. However, since Rosenberg has made it clear that it's not her decision to make, it remains uncertain whether he will be returning to reprise his role for "Jessica Jones" season 2.

But what can fans expect from the upcoming season?

According to Rosenberg, the second season of the hit series will be "something new." While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the showrunner said that fans will be surprised with some revelations in season 2. Characters will have evolved and there are a lot of other things to explore, too.

"No one is interested in having our characters keeping on doing the same things in the same ways. That's what they do in network television. This world, you push your characters into new places they've never been before. That's what gives us the most excitement," Rosenberg shared.

It has been made clear, though, that not a lot of information can be revealed about the upcoming second season as of yet, especially since Netflix has other Marvel projects coming up before the release of "Jessica Jones" season 2. Apart from the recently released "Luke Cage" centering on Colter's eponymous character, there's also going to be "Iron Fist" starring Finn Jones and "The Defenders," which will see an "Avengers"-like superhero team-up among Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Daredevil (Charlie Cox).

There has also been talk of new villains joining in on the fun. And it's not going to be an easy task since it is expected that there will be three new baddies.

"Jessica Jones" season 2 is speculated to arrive in 2017.
