'Jumanji 2' cast news: Alex Wolff joins the cast of the sequel movie

(Facebook/Nat & Alex Wolff)Actor and musician Alex Wolff has been announced to be one of the teenagers who gets suspended in the upcoming sequel, "Jumanji 2."

Actor Alex Wolff is the newest artist announced to join the movie "Jumanji 2." The name of his character will be Spencer and he will be the real-life character who will control actor Dwayne Johnson's Dr. Smolder Bravestone.

The Hollywood Reporter further cites that Wolff is best known for his role in "The Naked Brothers Band." He will join actor Ser'Darius Blain and actresses Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner as the four teens in detention.

Over a week ago, Mashable's Jeff Sneider tweeted a more concrete description of the upcoming movie's plot. On Sept. 20, the insider posted, "'JUMANJI' sequel said to follow 4 teens in detention who get sucked into the game, where they take on new "avatar" forms to locate a jewel."

As mentioned, Wolff will have Johnson's character as the avatar form, while other avatars will be portrayed by actors Kevin Hart and Jack Black and actress Karen Gillan.

In related news, actor Nick Jonas will also join the others in the avatar world as shown in the picture posted by Johnson on his Instagram account. The actor is known to post updates on his social media accounts and he took the opportunity to welcome Jonas on his first day on the set.

He posted, "Officially welcoming my guy@NickJonas to #Jumanji. Great dude, great positive energy and very talented. He's gonna kill this role like I kill things with my bare hands.
The jungle awaits. The adventure continues. And ironically the one who sings the most on set is Jack Black.#OnLocation #Hawaii#WelcomeToTheFamilyNick #Jumanji."

The first movie featured a board game as the medium by which the characters play the game. In order to escape the jungle, the characters are led by the late actor Robin Williams. The world has changed since and, together with the changing times, "Jumanji 2" will feature a video game instead. It remains to be seen how the story becomes the continuation of the first one.

"Jumanji 2" is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
