Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album news: Is the collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole still happening?

It has been months since talks about a collaboration album between artists Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole started, but nothing has been officially announced yet. Many reasons have been pointed out to cause the delay, including legal issues against Lamar and the hectic schedule of both artists, but fans continue to be hopeful. However, many are starting to believe that the project is far from happening.

Both artists are two of the most in-demand perfomers today, and, aside from individual projects, they have a lot of events and performances to attend to. Their current stellar status is what makes the prospect of a joint album dreamy for hip hop fans, but it's their status as well that seems to make it difficult for them to work together.

Lamar figures in multiple legal battles and there are speculations that these have a lot to do with the collaboration project being delayed or canceled altogether. One lawsuit filed against him is from Sameerah Satterthwaite, who claims that a song of his, is inspired by a poem she read for him in private.

That same poet is additionally suing the artist for using her name in the song that implies her death. Another lawsuit concerns melody for his song by Mattie Music group, who owns the right to "Don't You Want to Stay."

A recent social post by Cole is also speculated to hint on a collaboration with another artist. In an Instagram post by Top Dawg Entertainment co-founder, he is seen driving and singing a song by singer Rihanna featuring his friend and fellow artist Drake. While nothing is official yet, many are also looking forward to a J. Cole and Drake collaboration.

Just like Lamar and Cole, Drake continues to release hits after hits. For now, fans just have to wait and see if Cole does collaborate with either, neither, or both Lamar and Drake.
