Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole collaborative album update: Rappers too busy to commit?

Many fans are still holding out on the hope that iconic rappers Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole would collaborate on an album. However, it doesn't seem like it's in the cards as the two rappers are said to have conflicting schedules.

Kendrick Lamar, on one hand, has a new footwear collection coming out. He's reportedly pouring all of his efforts on this project, titled "Classic Leather," with Reebok. And with a new apparel collection out, it would make sense for the rapper to keep up appearances to promote them.

There are also reports going around that Lamar may be in a bit of legal trouble. Apparently, a case of copyright infringement is keeping him busy, with two lawsuits reportedly pending.

On the other hand, J. Cole has a lot on his plate. He has several concerts scheduled, including one taking place at the John Paul Jones Arena on Aug. 20 and a gig at the Washington State Fair in September. The one at John Paul Jones Arena is reportedly going to serve as a welcoming concert for the students.

However, there is also a rumor going around that the collaboration album may not even be a possibility. A report from Inquisitr claims that J. Cole is more interested in working with Drake rather than Lamar, thanks to a video that he uploaded on Instagram. In the video, J. Cole is seen and heard singing one of Drake's songs from his recent album, "Views."

Fans should not worry, though, because it has been said that Lamar is dead set on releasing an album with J. Cole no matter what. Only time will tell if this will eventually come to fruition.
