Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole album release date: Collaboration seems to be delayed again

Kendrick Lamar's sister, on social media, hinted at a Feb. 16 release of the much-awaited collaborative album of rappers Lamar and J. Cole. Since there is still no official word about the release, speculations suggest that the expected rap masterpiece will likely be delayed—again.

An in-depth report on DJ Booth sheds light on why the team-up will not be a good idea. It says that even though both artists are thematically alike, they are still individually different since they both tread on different artistic directions. If their individual styles are forced—or tried—to merge, it could only create a catastrophe.

Just yesterday, Feb. 16, Lamar performed and won big at the 2016 Grammy Awards. According to Rolling Stone, he won five awards in the rap categories including Best Rap Album for "To Pimp a Butterfly," Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for "Alright," and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "These Walls" with Bilal, Anna Wise and Thundercat.

Lamar also wowed the crowd with his live performance of "The Blacker the Berry" and "Alright" off of the said award-winning album.

J. Cole, on the other hand, was also nominated in three rap categories which Lamar won in. His "2014 Forest Hills Drive" got a nod for Rap Album of the Year, and two other nominations for his song "Apparently."

It was previously reported that Lamar's sister Kayla Duckworth posted what looked like an announcement on Facebook which could have hinted at the release of the collaborative album.

According to the Vibe, Kayla's post reads: "Go checkout my brother @kendricklamar gift to you guys its [sic] definitely some [fire emoji] as usual! But go listen to it you won't regret it I promise! Collab drop #Feb16 so be on the lookout as well and also if you hadn't noticed I did a very small part at the end, you have to start someone right."

With how things are progressing, it looks like the album will unlikely to come out soon.
