KickassTorrents news: KAT.am back as kickass.cd; authorities fail to stop torrent site

(Facebook/Kick Ass Torrents)The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) fails in stopping KAT.am as it is now back with a new domain name, kickass.cd

KickassTorrents (KAT) mirrors, specifically its KAT.am domain, has been shut down by the U.S. government after various Hollywood Studios joined forces in their protest against the said site.

According to reports, Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) sent an email warning the domain, which was followed by its eventual shutdown.

"This Notice requires you to immediately (within 24 hours) take effective measures to end and prevent further copyright infringement. All opportunities provided by the Website to download, stream or otherwise obtain access to the Entertainment Content should be disabled permanently," goes a portion of MPAA's email as.

However, despite the domain having been successfully taken down, it seems that KAT is not giving up without a fight. In an interview of TorrentFreak with the operator of the mirror, it has been learned that the Armenian registry's domain name has, indeed, been taken down, but KAT will exhaust every legal means possible in order to bring it back.

"We are making continuous attempts to bring it back, utilizing all the legal channels available," the incognito source said.

It has also been learned that operators of the KAT mirror are devil may care about the latest incident, despite the possibility that the owner of the site might get arrested. For the said KAT operator who was reached out to by TorrentFreak, there is no need to worry as it is certain that someone else will keep the site running.

"If not the alleged owner, it can be us. If we are not there, still there will surely be someone else. This never ends," the unidentified operator said.

Meanwhile, Hackread has claimed that, following the taking down of the KAT.am domain, it is now back with a kickass.cd as its primary domain and has kickass.mx as its proxy on EasyDNS. This came after a crew of the now taken-down KAT.am promised the publication that it would be back 3 hours after the domain had been taken down as they were able to retrieve a copy of their database in another server that became possible because of the multiple cloud servers that hosted KAT.am then.
