Square Enix has released a new teaser for the much-awaited title "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," and it is everything that fans hoped for and more.

In the latest trailer, Aqua is first seen donning customized appearances. From wings, frocks, and color schemes, it appears that the new title for Kingdom Hearts will be giving more freedom for players to have a personalized feel of their characters. It looks like the items will have to be obtained in-game, though, but nonetheless it adds an element of ownership.

Another noteworthy scene is how Mickey actively assists Aqua in a battle sequence. Unlike previous titles for the series where the character merely summons an ally to perform a set attack, the new clip for "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" is teasing that there is a way to do a coordinated attack with support characters.

The synopsis reads, "Sora and Riku begin to prepare for their final battle against Master Xehanort. Aqua struggles to survive against the deceptions and terrors of the Dark World. The mysterious foretellers are threatened by a traitor within that will lead to the devastating Keyblade War."

The summary itself is foreboding, and it truly is priming and paving the way for the final installment, "Kingdom Hearts 3," which is expected to be the last in the series. It is believed to depict how the light battles the dark in one of the fiercest keyblade wars yet.

"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" is actually a combination of three chapters that will eventually set the stage for the final fight. One will be the HD remaster of the beloved 3DS classic "Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance." It will, of course, be remade into fitting one screen as the original game toggled between two separate screens.

The other two are new chapters, starting with "Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep — A Fragmentary Passage," and "Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover." The first one speaks about Aqua's experiences after the ending of the original "Birth by Sleep," while the "Back Cover" will be discussing more on the foretellers and an untold history of the series.

"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 on Jan. 24, 2017.
