One of the games that failed to make an appearance during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, which concluded recently, was "Left 4 Dead 3." With very little news about the upcoming game, fans of the franchise that focuses on killing zombies have been trawling the Internet for rumors and these have pointed towards the game being in development.

The latest news pertaining to the "Left 4 Dead" franchise arrived recently when the last game in it was made backwards compatible. Reporting on this, a website states that it is great news for the franchise which has been languishing without any new content and no news of "Left 4 Dead 3" arriving. As part of the backwards compatibility program, "Left 4 Dead 2" will be arriving for the Xbox One. Previously, this game had released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

However, "Left 4 Dead 2" released in 2009 and since then very little official news about a sequel has surfaced and this has left fans upset. This has led to them going through the Internet for clues, and at the beginning of the year, they got a tip that a sequel was in development. Gamerant, reporting on the news about "Left 4 Dead 3," stated that the game had gotten top priority over others that the developer Valve Corporation was working on including "Half-Life 3".

More importantly, when the rumor about "Left 4 Dead 3" being in development emerged, it was indicated that the game will be released sometime next year. Some information about the characters in the upcoming game was also provided and it was hinted that a total of four characters will be featured in "Left 4 Dead 3." Among these four characters, one will be a woman and the others will be men. Since this particular character formula follows what was seen in previous games in the series, it did not raise any eyebrows among gamers. As for the woman's name, it will be Katherine. Among the three male characters one will be Keenan while the others will be Irvin and Garret Jr.
