'Legend of Zelda for Wii U' news: Nintendo Direct releases new clip; remastered 'Twilight Princess' coming for the Wii U in March 2016
A new "Legend of Zelda" game is coming to the Wii U! Well, technically, it's not new. It's another remaster. But maybe it's enough to tide fas of the franchise over until the real new "Legend of Zelda" title is released — that plus a really short footage of the new game.
Many gamers have been waiting on a new "Legend of Zelda" title to be released and many expected it to arrive on Nintendo's newest video game console, the Wii U. But there have been some delays, with the release pushed back from this year to some time in 2016. Back in July, producer Eiji Aonuma said the delay is due to their desire to make the game the "most complete and ultimate Zelda game." Some speculate Nintendo is intentionally delaying it for the upcoming NX console instead.
In the first Nintendo Direct video since Satoru Iwata's passing, the Japanese company made its very first update on the said "Legend of Zelda for Wii U" title. It's not much — there's still no release date — but everyone finally gets a fresh new look at the said game. In the video below, fast forward to 3:15 to see a quick clip of Link riding Epona through green fields. Also, Nintendo Europe President Satoru Shibata promised the game is being made into perfection to "live up to [fans'] expectations."
But that's not the only way fans can celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" has been remade into HD. The Wii- and GameCube-original game released in 2006 is making a "grand return" on the Wii U beginning March 4, 2016. Shibata, however, says it's not just a "prettier version" but a better one, too. On top of rehashed character models and textures, there's also a Wolf Link Amiibo to be released the same day, with the ability to be playable with the title character, Midna. That same Amiibo will also be able to carry over data from "Twilight Princess HD" to the brand new "Legend of Zelda for Wii U."
Stay tuned for more updates on the 2016 releases of the "Legend of Zelda" franchise on the Wii U.
