'Longmire' season 4 spoilers: second chances to be a theme when next season airs in September

When "Longmire" was axed by A&E in 2014, angry fans created a lot of online clamor to bring the drama series back. Not only did season three's epic finale end in a cliff-hanger but the show even managed to pull impressive viewer ratings. Fortunately, Netflix picked up the series soon enough and now, "Longmire" has a scheduled date of release for its fourth season.

Netflix will release all 10 episodes of the fourth season on Sept. 10, 2015. TVLine reports that the theme of the season, ironically, is about second chances. It certainly seems a fitting theme given that the show was given a second chance by the streaming service.

Executive producer, Greer Shephard, told the publication "Ironically, the theme is 'second chances,' and who you are as a person is defined by how you handle the second chance. There are a lot of ways in which people can rebuild themselves after devastating circumstances, and we explore that theme through each of our characters."

Discrimination and injustice facing Native Americans characters on the show will be dealt with in the upcoming season four of "Longmire." The producer also expressed his happiness about the show's new home since he was unwilling to part with the series so soon and in such an abrupt manner. Ultimately, A&E cited the show's appeal to older TV viewers that lead it to be shelved by the network.

The show will bring back many of its previous cast members such as Lou Diamond Phillips, Robert Taylor, Cassidy Freeman, Bailey Chase, Katee Sackhoff and Adam Bartley. New actress, Ally Walker, will heavily recur in an unknown role while star, Gerald McRaney, will appear as Barlow Connally.

Season four kicks off moments after season three's sensational finale. Shephard also posited questions to Deadline that echoed fans' doubts. "Now that Walt knows the murderer of his wife, how does he go on? With Henry, he has a new-found freedom, what does he do with it?" he said.

Find out the answers by tuning in to the streaming service.
