Fans of "Longmire" are waiting on tenterhooks about the series' fate after news of its cancellation surfaced. Netflix's silence over the release date of season 5 further sparks speculations that the show is coming to an end.

According to Master Herald, followers of the drama series believe that it is still too early to tell if the cancellation rumors are true since the new installment has yet to be given a premiere date. Some sources think it will be this fall and it is only a matter of time until Netflix releases its official promo. It makes sense that there is still no update, since the network is still waiting to announce its entire lineup for the fall. The schedule for "Longmire" will reportedly be revealed alongside the other Netflix shows like "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black."

In the event that the upcoming installment will be the series finale, many believe it is time to push through with the love story of Walt (Robert Taylor) and Vic Moretti (Kate Sackhoff). In the Craig Johnson novel, the protagonist ended up with his beautiful partner and not with Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker). It will be interesting though to see how the showrunner can pull this off, given the limited episodes. Last season, Walt is still very much in love with Donna, whereas Vic is nothing more than a good friend and a little sister.

Some fans even think a relationship is impossible for them, since Walt is a lot older than Vic in the series. Parent Herald reports that many think there is no chemistry between the two. There is always a chance that the series' writers may decide to not follow the storyline in the book, though. Walt may have his happy ending with Donna, while Vic meets a new man.
