Will there or will there not be a "Man of Steel 2"? And if there is, who will be tasked to helm the next standalone Superman film? Some rumors suggest that it is going to be George Miller.

The latest "Mad Max" film not only earned big bucks in the box office when it was released earlier this year, but it also garnered big praises from movie critics. Fresh from his "Mad Max: Fury Road" success, director, Miller, is not a surprising choice to direct the rumored "Man of Steel 2."

The news was dropped by "The Death of 'Superman Lives'" producer, Jon Schnepp, during Popcorn Talk's DC Movie News podcast. A little after the 55-minute mark of the podcast, Schnepp said that Miller is the perfect choice to direct the movie, given that Snyder is already helming the first two "Justice League" films.

Whether this is true or not remains to be seen. After all, DC's latest superhero movie release schedule does not include a new standalone "Superman" film. But Den of Geek reports that CEO of Warner Bros., Kevin Tsujihara, confirmed that the movie outfit is still open to having more "Superman" and "Batman" films in the future.

Heroic Hollywood has definitely added flames to the "George Miller directing 'Man of Steel 2'" rumors when it previously reported that Miller is in talks with Warner Bros. The site says that the new "Mad Max" director dropped by the "Suicide Squad" set to discuss the possibility of directing a new DC movie.

Warner Bros. might be a little wary about another "Superman" film, given that both "Superman Returns" and "Man of Steel" tanked in the box office. But if "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" performs really well, then fans just might hear more news of a new film about the Kryptonian superhero.

In the meantime, DC fans can mark their calendars for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The "Justice League" title hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
