'Marco Polo' season 3 renewal news: Is the show looking for a new home?

(Netflix/Marco Polo)Hundred Eyes is one of the fan-favorite characters on "Marco Polo," and the series' two seasons could be seen on Netflix.

Netflix has yet to announce the fate of "Marco Polo" season 3, but rumors about the show's cancellation have been making the rounds. A roundtable interview with different network executives, however, might have revealed that the show is looking for a new home for its upcoming seasons.

During The Hollywood Reporter's roundtable interview with TV executives, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos was present together with HBO Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler, AMC President and CEO Josh Sapan, A&E President and CEO of A E Nancy Dubuc, and NBC Universal Cable Entertainment Chairman Bonnie Hammer.

During the discussion, Sarandos said that "Marco Polo" was able to deliver to the viewers "what is was supposed to do." He went on the discuss the future of the show with the rest of the panel, but no details about the outcome of the discussion have been shared.

There have been speculations saying that the cost for the show's production is high and that could be one of the main reasons why Netflix is still not renewing the show for another season. Although networks are considered rivals, joint projects between two or more networks have been done and still continue to be done.

One big factor that affects the decision of executives to renew or cancel the show is its performance in the ratings department. Another factor would be the reception of the critics. There have been rumors saying the previous season did not do well in the department, but creator John Fusco wrote for Deadline and said season 2 has received "the same high praise from both critics and viewers."

Rumors about the cancellation have started even while season 2 was airing, yet no official statements from proper authorities have been made. For now, it would be best to just wait for the proper announcement.
