'Mass Effect Andromeda' updates, news: BioWare launches two minor updates prior to game's release

BioWare's action role-playing game (RPG) "Mass Effect: Andromeda" recently made its debut on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows PCs. Prior to the game's launching, developers released two minor updates for its latest title.

(Facebook/masseffect)"Mass Effect: Andromeda" recently launched on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

According to the studio, the updates do not bring new content to the game. The updates only bring a few necessary fixes to the RPG's PC version. Reports say that one update needs 500 MB of storage, while the other needs 200 MB. The update 1.0.0.4 fixes the audio in multiplayer mode, and it also adds support to Corsair Cue, which is responsible for the lighting and macro effects on most of the gaming hardware.

The patches have reportedly improved the single-player mode of the fourth installment of the "Mass Effect" series. Despite the attempt to fix a few key issues before the game launched to the general public, "Andromeda" has received a number of criticisms, particularly on its gameplay.

The Verge, for instance, believes that "Andromeda" has an epic plot. The new setting is refreshing in some ways, but ultimately, the narrative-centric flow of the game makes it "bland" and "tedious," the publication notes.

Meanwhile, according to Forbes, the game's attempt to introduce human-like character animations is quite disappointing. The news outlet believes there is not much of an improvement. More importantly, the publication warns gamers to avoid using the default Sarah Ryder character, who they say, looks awkward and uncomfortable. In their review, Forbes urges players to customize their own character.

For the uninitiated, "Andromeda" is set 600 years after the events of the original "Mass Effect" trilogy, wherein players are tasked to lead the human race to a safe new region.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" was launched this Tuesday, March 21, 2017. PC users who have pre-loaded the game will be able to download the update.

More updates should arrive soon.
