E! News host and stand-up comedian, Joan Rivers, is still in an induced coma after her breathing suddenly stopped during a routine check-up for her vocal cords, and daughter Melissa Rivers made sure to be by her mother's side during this trying time.

Admitted at New York's Mount Sinai hospital, the 81-year-old comedy icon's health is still uncertain, depending on what the doctors suggest.

Melissa Rivers arrived with her son Cooper, and asked her closest friends to watch her son as she tries to be on top of her mother's health condition.

"My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world," said Rivers in a statement.

"Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery," continued Rivers in the statement.

Rivers was rushed to the hospital just 12 hours after performing a stand-up show in Manhattan, New York, and has not been responsive since. Doctors who attended Rivers are still uncertain why the host suddenly stopped breathing during her procedure.

Recent reports by Reuters suggest that Rivers is now "resting comfortably" in at the hospital.
