Miami Heat 2015 NBA trade news: Will Goran Dragic be retained?

(Robert Mayer / Reuters)The Miami Heat have choices to make in the off-season, where to keep Luol Deng (in picture) or Goran Dragic.

After missing the playoffs this season, it seems that the Miami Heat needs to make some moves to shake up the roster.

The Florida team finished 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 37-45 record and barely missed the playoff spot (by one game).

However, the lack of accomplishment leaves much to be desired, but the Heat should focus on keeping the players they want to invest in.

It certainly helps that they will get the 10th pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, but the question remains whether they are only a few pieces away from being back to being East contenders again?

Dwyane Wade is likely to remain the focal point of the team, and the star guard claims he is willing to stay with Miami as long as they can give him a competing team.

He currently has one year left in which he will gain around $15,000,000. Should he decide to stay, it would seriously hit the Heat's ability to track bigger players.

Another player to consider is Luol Deng who has his contract expiring in 2016. Statistically, he has the biggest win shares in Miami and his contract renewal means that Miami's cap will take a $10,000,000 hit.

These contracts will make it tough for guard Goran Dragic, who admits that he enjoys playing in South Beach, but also claims that he is also ready to get the money he believes he is worth.

Speaking to FOXSports, Dragic said: "To make the next step in my career, I'm looking for how I'm going to fit in with the players, with the team and what kind of style of the game that we're going to play.

"The last two months I felt really great here. Unfortunately, we didn't make the playoffs but we know what kind of situation it was with the team. If I'm going to stay here, I will be looking forward to playing with all of those guys -- especially with Chris Bosh and Josh McRoberts because they are two big parts of this team."

If all of them decide to stay, considering that Dragic gets the max deal he wishes, then Miami will have very little room to get new players, as they could be hit with up to $10 million in luxury tax penalties.

For a team that wishes to move forward and improve, there are big decisions to be made. Team President Pat Riley is known to make good decisions for the team, but this will undoubtedly be one of the toughest things to go through.

Chris Bosh will be back next season and Hassan Whiteside will continue to improve – which may change their fate next season, but if movement is made, then players will most likely be lost.
