Coming from a season of uncertainty following the departure of LeBron James, the Miami Heat were looking like a team ready to start all over and rebuild.

Chris Bosh then had a premature end to the season when he had to tackle issues with his lungs and suddenly things went from bad to worse in South Beach.

Good thing for the franchise is that it kept its composure and are now looking like a contender in the East.

They almost made it to the playoffs last season despite having a depleted team and this coming season is looking like a statement year for the Florida club.

Hassan Whiteside has been great so far and contract negotiations have resulted in the Miami Heat keeping a scary starting five of Goran Dragic, Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Bosh and Whiteside on the floor for the tip-off.

Furthermore, they have arguably the steal of the recent NBA Draft as they acquired Justise Winslow from Duke University.

Miami had the 10th pick in the draft and did not expect such a high-profile player to be available. But as soon as they were called and he was still on tap, Winslow was an automatic choice.

Now talks are circulating that Miami are far from done with signing players.

According to Heat Beat Writer Ira Winderman, the Heat are considering a few more players as they have 20 total slots left until the start of the season, before they trim it down to 15.

Amar'e Stoudemire has also joined the team to add depth to the club and suddenly the team are looking like real playoff contenders.

There are talks that the Heat are trying to bring in Ben Gordon in for veteran presence with shooting touch from the outside.

Gordon may come on for Wade or Dragic and should provide important rest time for the stars.

The Heat are steadily building pieces to make a comeback, and even James concedes that the Heat may be contenders in the coming season.
