Seven-time Formula One champion and ace driver, Michael Schumacher, is finally showing signs of recovery. The German race-driver suffered a horrible skiing accident on Dec. 29, 2013 on the French Alps. Despite wearing protective headgear, he fell down on his head and suffered severe head injuries. In fact, reports suggested that if it weren't for his headgear, he would've instantly died.

Schumacher fans finally have a reason to smile, as the German racer can communicate through his eyes, according to Venture Capital Post. Schumacher even cries when he hears recognizable sounds, such as those of his wife and children. This is a positive sign since the ace driver initially did not show any signs of recovery after waking up from a six-month coma. A coma was induced by the doctors because of the severe brain trauma he suffered following the fall.

Although he is showing signs of progress, he has a long way to go. Sometime in the near future Schumacher will be transferred to a wheelchair in order to prevent muscle degeneration and he will have to undergo extensive physical therapy. While it has been a grueling 13-month ordeal for Schumacher's wife and children, his wife remains hopeful that he will recover. Master Herald reports that despite the initial prognosis by doctors that Michael will not make a full recovery, his wife still harbors hope.

Fans and fellow race drivers are praying for Michael's recovery as can be seen on his official website which is flooded by prayers to his wife and children. Fellow race drivers and his home team Mercedes, have expressed their thoughts, concerns and prayers through various social media accounts. Schumacher is now rehabilitated to his home in Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Fans want him to fight till the end, just like he always has in his races. Hopefully, the months ahead will reveal further improvement in Schumacher's condition.
