Friends, family, and fans of the famous Formula One driver, Michael Schumacher, were shocked upon learning the ski accident that took place in Maribel, France, in December, 2013. Schumacher was placed in a medically-induced coma for more than six months to lessen the damages of his head injury condition. Now, the driver is being treated privately at his home in Switzerland.

A doctor who treated Schumacher during his coma spoke and said that there is still hope for the driving legend to recover, but it will take time.

"Life after a head injury is punctuated by stages," said Dr. Jean-Francois Payen, who treated Schumacher at the Grenoble hospital for six months following the injury.

Payen added that it could take three years for Schumacher to regain motor skills and full consciousness.

"We hope, but we have to give him time," added the doctor, as reported by Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Schumacher's son, Mick, relayed news that his father is waking up "very slowly," and F1 commentator, Jean-Louis Moncet, heard it with his own ears.

Moncet spoke with radio station Europe 1 and told the good news to those who were tuned in.

"I saw his son and he told me that Schumi is waking up very slowly; very slowly," said Moncet.

"Although things are going at a slow pace, he has a lot of time, I would say he has his whole life in front of him to get back on track," continued the announcer.
