"Mr. Robot" has never been afraid to push the envelope and mix genres, as it once again proved in the amazing 90s sitcom-life that Elliot had found himself in previously. But will his foray in this fantasy world finally reveal what happened to Tyrell Wellick?

Fans who watch the popular USA Network drama-thriller live got a treat when the first half of the previous episode saw Elliot (Rami Malek) and his family transported to a 90s-style sitcom, complete with laugh tracks and the appearance of ALF.

While it was quite the trip down memory lane for viewers who grew up in the 90s, it served a disturbing purpose as this particular fantasy world was created by Mr. Robot as a way for Elliot to survive the beating that Ray's (Craig Robinson) goons were inflicting on him. It was a groundbreaking gesture and one that will have ramifications between the two.

Episode 7 will apparently find Elliot and Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) make nice, while Angela (Portia Doubleday) and Darlene (Carly Chaikin) team up for the win. Meanwhile, Joanna (Stephanie Corneliussen) receives an ultimatum.

The trailer for the episode, titled "eps2.5_h4ndshake.sme," teases a breakthrough in Elliot and Mr. Robot's stalemate. The clip starts with Elliot asking Mr. Robot why he's so afraid for him to know what happened. The young hacker had been hounding his alter ego about Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) for a while now and the man turned out to be in the trunk of Aldersen's car in episode 6. A clearly frustrated Mr. Robot appears to have given in and said he will tell Elliot the truth. Dom (Grace Gummer) is also seen confronting Angela and demanding to know what she's doing in a restricted floor. There are shots of Darlene, E Corp., and Philip (Michael Cristofer) saying that everyone protects their "own secret evil agenda." Ray's goon is then seen pushing Elliot to sit down in front of a computer, while in another scene, viewers can see Ray lingering behind Elliot.

But perhaps the most intriguing part of the trailer is Mr. Robot asking Elliot what was the last thing he remembers as flashes of a street are shown. The succeeding shot shows Mr. Robot enigmatically claiming that "we were going to be next." Does he mean that fsociety was the next to be attacked or that Elliot was the next to be killed? The clip ends with Elliot clarifying if he really did something.

While it's unclear what Elliot did exactly, some fans are thinking he might have remembered that he killed or kidnapped Tyrell. But there are others who believe that Elliot is finally accepting the truth that he was the one who carried out the hack on E Corp.

Episode 7 of "Mr. Robot" season 2 episode 7 will be aired on the USA Network on Aug. 17 at 10 p.m.
