'Narcos' season 2 spoilers, premiere date; EP wishes to keep Pablo Escobar alive

Fans of the Netflix hit "Narcos" are still awaiting news of the second season's exact premiere date. Unfortunately, they will have to wait a bit longer as the streaming giant has not yet announced a release date for the upcoming season.

The show revolves around the life of Pablo Escobar, a real-life notorious drug kingpin in Colombia. The first season already roughly covered most of his life, leaving room for his death in the second season. Although some fans are hoping to see the character well beyond season 2, it seems that Escobar's future is quite bleak.

Executive producer Eric Newman told Slash Film that Escobar, played by Wagner Moura, will inevitably die in the upcoming season.

"Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show..." Newman admitted. "He will die. The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one. At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live. That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending."

Thankfully, the show will still have material to go on even after season 2. The drug trade didn't stop after Escobar perished, so there is still a lot of story to tell. Newman revealed, however, that they have not decided yet on which path to take in the third season.

Right now, though, the second season of "Narcos" is certainly sounding exciting, especially given the fact that Escobar's iconic death will be featured. TMZ reports that the producers intended to film the climactic scene at the very same roof where the real-life Escobar was shot to death. Unfortunately, the current owner of the house did not agree to it, so they had to find a different roof.

Regardless of which roof it is shot on, fans still religiously await the premiere, which is rumored to be in August of this year.
