'NCIS: LA' season 8 episode 3 spoilers: Kensi fights for her life; team sans Hetty on standby

(Facebook/NCISLA)Kensi is still in danger in the next episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles."

Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) life is still not out of danger due to the injuries she sustained in the Syrian mission. What will an already Hetty-less team do without her in the upcoming episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles"?

In the episode titled "The Queen's Gambit," the synopsis (as per CarterMatt) reveals that one of the team's members is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Kensi's condition remains critical following the helicopter crash last episode. The mercenaries fired a rocket at the NCIS' getaway vehicle and it crash-landed. Kensi was trapped under the bulk of the chopper and was severely injured. The team had no way out until Granger (Miguel Ferrer) bypassed the undersecretary of defense, Corbin Duggan (Jackson Hurst), and ordered a drone strike.

While Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen (Chris O'Donnell) were able to get out of there alive, Kensi was touch and go. She had to be rushed to the United States for treatment.

It has been previously teased that the showrunners have been planning a storyline for Ruah to hide her pregnancy. It is now revealed that her character will be confined in the hospital following her narrow escape from death. Fans of the series should not worry though since Kensi is expected to get well for her engagement to Deeks.

Meanwhile, Hetty's (Linda Hunt) fate is still a big question mark. After offering her resignation to Duggan, the undersecretary had her cuffed and held in D.C. The team will likely not sit back and let their leader take the blame for the busted Syrian mission. Even Granger is in danger of getting axed since he was the one who ordered the unauthorized attack against the rebels. Lacking key members and with their morale down, the three remaining agents will be asked to investigate a case involving an abduction of an important individual.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
