Sam (LL Cool J) is going to do some solo work in the upcoming episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles." How will he fare without Callen (Chris O'Donnell)?

The CBS series is currently on its winter break and will return in January. The official synopsis for the episode titled "Kulinda" has already been released, however. As seen on CarterMatt, the former SEAL will be sent for an undercover assignment to probe the secrets of a private security firm. Intel has reasons to believe that the company has hidden connections to several criminal groups. The discovery comes after a Navy reservist, who was guarding a city councilman, is killed. It is up to Sam to find out the truth behind the murder.

While Sam frequently takes on a case with his trusty partner, Callen, it will be interesting to see how he works solo. Most likely, he will pose as a new recruit in the security firm.

In the meantime, while Sam is busy with his undercover work, Callen will meet with Anna (Bar Paly) and talk about their blooming relationship. Viewers cheered when the agent seemed to be falling in love with the beautiful blonde specialist. Callen is being cautious though and his friends chide him for it. Will he finally be able to brag that he has a girlfriend?

Last episode, Anna helped the NCIS team find the missing Navy Lieutenant Commander. She was last seen working for the NSA on cyber threats. At first, the squad thought her disappearance had something to do with her job. Later on, they found another motive. The officer's boyfriend was a journalist who was preparing a major scoop. He had a list of rich men who were corrupt. His targets tried to silence him by kidnapping his girlfriend. They wanted to get their hands on the revealing documents in exchange for her life.
