'NCIS: LA' season 8 spoilers: Callen continues quest to learn about his true identity

(Facebook/NCISLA)Callen continues investigation about his past in "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8.

G. Callen's (Chris O'Donnell) determination to find out more about his family has not waned in the upcoming season of "NCIS: Los Angeles."

According to Enstars, the agent will continue to look for more information about his identity. After learning that his first name was G and that his father was a KGB Major named Nikita Alexsandr Reznikov, he still wants to trace what happened to him after leaving his native land Romania. Last installment, it took all of his concentration to get the details that would help unlock the truth. Hetty (Linda Hunt) held the key all along, but she was understandably cautious of telling Callen what she knew. After all, she still feels guilty about what happened to his mother, a former CIA agent named Clara Callen.

A large portion of Callen's past is still murky. Wikia, however, explains the history of the Callen-Reznikov family.

Hetty knew Callen's mother because they once worked together in the field. When insurgents threatened to kill them, Clara asked Hetty to take G and his sister to the United States and leave Romania. The CIA, however, ordered Hetty to return home and she never got to see the agent again. Not long after, Clara was killed. Rezkinov was left to care for his children, but he too died. Fortunately, a friend had promised to take the kids and run away. G and his sister were separated when they reached America.

Hetty was able to monitor G as he was passed from one foster home to another. When he was of age, she recruited him for NCIS. The rest is history.

Meanwhile, fans of the procedural will not get to see new episodes until October. Executive producer John Peter Kousakis took to Twitter and asked the viewers for patience. He promised that they are in for one "spectacular season."

"By now you all know, #ncisla S8 premier[e] date #CBSSundayOctober2at8PM. It will be a sensational season!#StayTuned #wontdisappoint," he wrote.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 will premiere on Sunday, October 2 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
