The 57 million fans of the long-running CBS show NCIS are not sure if one of its most famed character, Ziva David, will return in the upcoming 12th season.

NCIS is returning for its 12th season and fans are wondering if the Israeli stunner, Ziva David, will be back in the show. Ziva first appeared in the third season of the show in the episode Kill Ari (Part 1) as Cote de Pablo and became a regular when she appeared in the episode "Silver War."

Ziva's appearance in the next season is still undecided, though show runners have expressed their interest in bringing the well-loved character back. Gary Glasberg, one of the show's producers, talked to TVLine to discuss the said matter.

"A lot of people have approached me about the idea of not shutting the door entirely on [their staying in touch], and I'm not opposed to it. But it has to be done in a way where it feels organic to the storytelling and we're not just throwing in lines about Ziva here and there," said Glasberg in the TVLine interview.

Another character that might come back is Tony, Ziva's partner in the show. Mark Harmon, the show's lead actor, spoke alongside the showrunner and revealed that if there is enough interest, Tony might just come back in the show.

"If Tony's in a personal relationship or there's something significant happening for him and he wondered how she would respond, then maybe we can figure out a way to do it. It's a valid issue to bring up," the producer said regarding the relationship of Tony and Ziva.
