'NCIS' season 14 spoilers, cast updates: is Wilmer Valderrama's character being set up as Ellie Bishop's new love interest?

(Facebook/NCIS)Cast members Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, Sean Murray, and Rocky Carroll have all renewed their contracts.

"NCIS" fans can breathe a little easier with the knowledge that the remaining members of the team are not going anywhere.

Michael Weatherly's departure from "NCIS" had fans worried that the move was a precursor of the show's end. But with the series renewed for two more seasons and the cast signing new contracts, it seems it's all systems go for "NCIS" season 14.

Deadline reported that David McCallum, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, and Sean Murray have all signed on the dotted line and will continue to reprise their roles as Ducky, Abby, Director Vance, and McGee, respectively, for the next two years. As for the characters of Jimmy Palmer and Eleonor Bishop, actors Brian Dietzen and Emily Wickersham are on different contract periods.

Perrette, McCallum, and Mark Harmon are the only remaining members from season 1, now that Weatherly has exited the show. Murray joined as a recurring character in season 1 before being promoted to regular the following season. Meanwhile, Carroll was tapped to play the recurring role of Vance in season 5 before becoming a regular in season 6.

While there's admittedly a big DiNozzo-shaped void in the team, "NCIS" will be welcoming a new agent in the form of Wilmer Valderrama. The "That 70's Show" alum is confirmed to be joining the long-running series as a regular. He will reportedly play an NCIS agent who went on an undercover assignment years ago. Since he has not resurfaced, many agents are unaware if he's still alive or if he's still on the job. But he's apparently back and is described as an "unpredictable, charismatic loose cannon."

It will be intesting to see how the team will react to this new agent. A lot of fans are expecting Valderrama's character to butt heads with Gibbs, while others believe that he might also have been placed there as a potential love interest for Bishop.

However, Valderrama might not be the only new addition to Gibb's team. The show is reportedly also looking to cast a new female regular. Fans will have to wait though before they can know whether this will be an entirely new character or if FBI agent Tess Monroe (Sarah Clarke) is returning.

"NCIS" season 14 will be returning to CBS on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.
